Multi-Scale Decay Mechanism of Emulsified Asphalt Cold Recycled Mixture Under Freeze-Thaw

The road performance decay law of EACRM under freeze-thaw cycles was studied using laboratory tests on the macroscopic scale in order to comprehensively analyze serious damage mechanism emulsified asphalt cold recycled mixture (EACRM) regions during service period. surface cracking behavior, internal void evolution characteristics, and mortar morphology were by means digital speckle, industrial CT, scanning electron microscope (SEM) mesoscopic microscopic scale. results show that along with increase number cycles, decreases significantly. obviously cracks, width main cracks fatigue times maximum horizontal strain whole field gradually decrease. Air voids average volume meso-void visibly increase. microcracks cement-emulsified constantly emerge at interface. “three-dimensional network structure” is fundamental reason for regions. aggravated water seeping into from cracks. Eventually, shows inflicted damage.
